The Domestic Health Division has helped shaped healthcare policies that have benefited millions of Americans, while improving the efficiency and effectiveness of many government programs. Federal government agencies, such as the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, and National Institutes of Health call on us to help launch and evaluate their key programs. We also help change behaviors affecting health by directing communication programs that address substance abuse and mental health services.

Minimum Qualifications: MA/MBA (4+) years of experience OR PhD (8 ? 10) years of experience OR the equivalent combination of education and experience. Job Responsibilities: Senior Communications Manager

A senior communications professional who can develop and implement strategic marketing and promotional publications and campaigns across a wide variety of target audiences and subject. Must be creative and organized, detail ?oriented and capable of managing numerous projects simultaneously. Requires an ability to interact with and manage multiple clients and vendors to achieve objectives. Familiarity with o line and new media approaches would be useful.

Assume responsibility for agency wide SAMHSA periodic publications, including creation of two new publications ? a quarterly publication with print, email and online versions plus a new bi-monthly e newsletter aimed at professional audiences. Will need to work closely with the SAMHSA Publications Officer. For both publications:

Develop objectives, focus, design and content for both newsletters; create annual plans. Design promotional plan to introduce and gain subscribers for e newsletter. Create and oversee communications channels to identify stories of interest for both publications. Create content plan for each issue, assign writers in conjunction with subcontractor. Review and approve content and design, working with subcontractor. Manage publication process. Oversee distribution in all media. Manage budget. Evaluate effectiveness of both newsletters. Determine how to repurpose materials prepared for newsletter for use in other settings. Create communications plans for objectives and actions within the eight Strategic Initiatives:

Meet and coordinate with strategic communications lead for each initiative to identify objectives and actions requiring communications plans as well as relevant project officers with whom to meet. Develop written plans identifying objective, target audience, messages, tactics, timeline and outcomes/evaluation for review and approval by project officers. Assess all dissemination methods with an emphasis on online and new media. Help prepare concept clearance for high priority/high complexity projects and shepherd through the process.
