Nordic Windpower USA, a California wind turbine technology company that?s relocating to Kansas City, has named a new CEO who hails from GE Energy Services.
The company announced Thursday thatJeff Brown?had been appointed CEO and director, succeeding?Tom Carbone.
Carbone, Nordic?s CEO since March 2009, will remain as an adviser but has opted to resume his role as a private wind developer, Brown said in an interview.
In December,?Nordic announced plans to relocate to Kansas City, bringing more than 200 jobs and a capital investment of nearly $16 million.
Brown said he and 12 engineering, executive, administrative, information technology and other employees moved to the Ambassador Building near?Kansas City International Airport?in March in preparation for the company?s relocation.
Its Idaho manufacturing operations, originally scheduled to move to Kansas City in the spring, instead will complete some projects before relocating, now planned for late August or early September.
?As in any move, you have to get unplugged from a number of things,? he said, adding that the company attempted to schedule its break in the manufacturing line at a time that would cause the least financial effect.
The manufacturing component will set up in the Super Hangar at KCI near Smith Electric Vehicles U.S. Corp.
Brown said Nordic?s board voted to name him as CEO in late May.
